The MENA region is witnessing a growing response in the form of regional networks.

The Regional/Arab Network against AIDS (RANAA) is a unique regional network of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) working on HIV/AIDS in the region. Launched in 2002 in Tunis, the mission and key objectives for RANAA have been expanding to become more of a regional support facility, for CSOs especially, on capacity building, networking, representation and bridging while ensuring strategic planning, as well as monitoring and evaluation are in place. During recent years, through the technical and financial support of UNAIDS, AIDS Alliance, USAID and others, RANAA was able to give a stronger voice to civil society and scale-up its presence and response to a large extent. The RANAA membership is open to all the National Networks or civil society organizations working in the field of HIV/AIDS in the MENA region, including those working for the Most at Risk Populations (MARPs) and the People Living with HIV (PLHIV).

Results to Date:

RANAA concentrates the commitment of more than 50 Arab civil society organizations` representatives

coming from all Arab countries in addition to Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan and 5 regional or international organizations, in unifying and coordinating their action against the spread of HIV-AIDS pandemic within the  region. RANAA has a substantial impact on the work of civil society especially in technical support, networking,, information sharing and capacity and partnership development. It has provided an innovative solution for knowledge management and capacity development for CSOs in the region.
