Welcome to the mapping tool for South-South Cooperation Solutions and Mechanisms in the Arab States. South-South Cooperation is one of the hallmarks of Arab development cooperation. Bilateral and multilateral Arab providers of such cooperation, initiated more than 40 years ago, must be recognized as important development actors. Arab providers – particularly Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates– have been among the most generous in the world and are gaining increasing prominence in international forums, which are crucial platforms for helping to advance SSC.
This mapping tool is intended to provide a one-stop shop access to practical, easy-to-use expertise on the existing South-South Cooperation Solutions and Mechanisms in the Arab States, to be used by the government institutions, non-government organisations, as well as development partners and the United Nations agencies, funds and programmes active in the region in their work aimed at advancing South-South Cooperation in the region in compliance with the provisions of the High-level United Nations Conference on South-South Cooperation. The mapping tool also offers an opportunity for sharing analytical information aimed at better understanding of the existing regional trends in South-South Cooperation, as well as visualising the capacity gaps that prevent the countries in the regions from taking full advantage of the potential benefits of South-South Cooperation.
